Howdy!
I’ll start the voluntary introduction round;
ASL? Markus Enge, 35 years from Skien originally, live in Nesodden outside Oslo Norway.
Worked as an auditor in KPMG for about 3 years after business school.
Then I got recruited into a smallcap named EAM Solar, where I was a part of one of the worst purchases in modern history where we lost 90% of our market cap in one M&A deal. (litigation still pending).
I moved on to Aega ASA (another smallcap solar company) where I was the CEO for the last two years. Left after we sold the solar business in 2019/2020.
Now I work in Funcom a computer game company owned by Tencent.
Been investing in stocks since 2008. Like it cheap.

This should be the subtitle of your biography x)

Tommy Kristiansen 30 yo, been investing in stocks for …I don’t know, five – six years maybe. Born and raised in Sarpsborg, and after living in Lillehammer, Kristiansand and Hamar, I’ve temporarily moved back as I got a new job this year. I worked at Norsk Tipping for a couple of years, wanted to move to Oslo and got a job at a marketing agency. Currently working with customers in finance, real estate and technology. A lot of them has something to do with the markets (M&A-lawyer and a publicly listed company, among others) or investing in general.
There’s nothing sexier than a perfect balance sheet that nobody wants. They are out there, but certainly not easy to find.
MemberMy name is Henrik, 37 years old, born and raised in Fredrikstad but I have been living in Oslo for the last 13 years. I have two kids, two and four years, and a great wife.
My interest for the stock market go way back. I bought my first shares in my early teens and studied share prices in the daily financial in Norway (Dagens Næringsliv).
I had an investment club with some friends at high school and was quite active in a student investment club during my years at Copenhagen Business School (http://ha-invest.dk/).
It took some years before I joined the game again, back in 2012. I started to work in AF Gruppen that year and bought shares in the yearly employees share program (by the way, why don’t all listed Companies have that? Great motivation and incentive!). From 2016 I broadened my perspective and bought some other shares as well. Now I run a concentrated portfolio, mostly consisting of high-quality companies.
The last couple of years I have realized that I love the hunt and the game of investing.
As C. Munger cleverly says: “I had a considerable passion to get rich, not because I wanted Ferraris – I wanted the independence. I desperately wanted it”
I couldn’t agree more – and some day I will be doing this full-time.
Anyone here doing this for a living? Or plan to do it some day?
ModeratorWelcome Henrik, great to have you on board! AF Gruppen seems like a great company both to work for and invest in.
I love the hunt also, so the plan is to do it full time at some point. Hopefully, this forum will bring the dream closer 🙂
MemberJoining in on the round of introductions: My name is Christian, I am 28 years old and grew up in Halden (adding to the already quite large selection of members in here from Østfold, messing with Hallgeir Kvadsheims impressions of what is the most fucked counties of all from a personal finance perspective from his years working on “Luksusfellen”).
I currently reside in Oslo with my girlfriend and our 4 month year old daughter. After graduating business school in 2017, I started working as a management consultant at AFRY (formerly known as ÅF) with a specific focus on advising energy- and utility companies. This type of work includes a lot of transactions and M&A, as well as more typical strategy consulting.
On investing, I first got into it at business school in 2013 and have been hooked since. I love to pick apart companies, looking for where their edge is and where the potential opportunities and pitfalls might lie. I started out by reading “The Intelligent Investor”, but over the years my investment style has changed more in the direction of looking for compounders and growth at a reasonable price in the Nordic space.
